Manchester City have completed the signing of Spanish midfielder, Rodri for the club-record £62.8 million from Atletico Madrid. The 23-year-old becomes the second player to join the Premier League champions this summer after the arrival of left-back Angelino for £12 million from PSV.
Rodri is considered as of the best young defensive midfielders in the world and he is signed as a long term replacement for ageing Fernandinho by Pep Guardiola. The Madrid-born starlet played 34 league games last season, scoring three goals in the process.
The Spaniard revealed that he is excited to play Pep Guardiola’s style of football.
“What City have achieved in the last two years has been amazing and I’m looking forward to being part of such a talented squad.
“It’s not just the titles they have won, but the way they have managed it, playing attacking football at all times.
“It’s a style that excites me, as do the Club’s ambitions.
“I can’t wait to start working with Pep Guardiola and my new team-mates and hopefully we can achieve great things together.”
